Welcome!  I am an Associate Professor in the Political Science Department at MIT.  My book, Regime Threats and State Solutions, (Cambridge University Press, Studies in Comparative Politics), examines the politicization of the public sector in Kenya. It was one of Foreign Affairs’ Best Books of 2020, received APSA’s 2021 Robert A. Dahl Award, and won ASA’s 2021 Bethwell A. Ogot Award. While some of my on-going research continues to focus on bureaucracy, public administration, and the state in Africa I have other research on contentious politics and collective action in autocratic regimes. Before coming to MIT, I was as Associate Professor at the University of Michigan. For more on my research, please see my publications, working papers, and cv. You can find me on Google Scholar here and I tweet from @MaiOHassan
